On Sunday, July 11, Haitian authorities said they had arrested a Miami-based, Haitian-born doctor whom they described as a central figure in the assassination plot. They accused him of hiring a private security company that recruited at least some of the Colombian ex-military members. Meanwhile, officials from multiple U.S. agencies are joining the investigation into the assassination of Moise. A senior Biden administration official confirmed that a “technical team” was being sent to the Caribbean nation, according to NPR.

It has been almost a week since Moise was assassinated in his home, yet many questions remain up in the air. What were Colombian ex-military members doing in Haiti? How did the assailants get through a fortified compound, defended by Haitian security forces, with no other deaths? Our guest is journalist and Haiti expert Kevin Pina.
